Hank: The Pueblo Heritage Museum’s Silent Watchman

Not every spirit makes themselves known with footsteps, whispers, or moving shadows. Some linger more quietly — their presence felt rather than seen. At Pueblo’s Heritage Museum, that quiet figure is known simply as Hank.

Hank’s story is not well-documented in the historical record. He isn’t a notorious outlaw or a famous figure. Instead, he represents the countless everyday lives that shaped Pueblo’s past — workers, travelers, and townsfolk whose names rarely made the headlines, but who built the fabric of the community.

Visitors and staff describe Hank as a steady, watchful energy, most often sensed in the quieter corners of the building. A shadow in the periphery, a sudden heaviness in the air, a feeling of being observed with calm patience. Unlike the

louder, more dramatic encounters that sometimes take place here, Hank’s presence is subtle — but unmistakable.

For us, Hank is a reminder that the paranormal is not always about fright. Sometimes it’s about connection, about the ordinary souls who refuse to be forgotten.

 Sometimes the spirits choose us.

Our teammate Lexi has felt a special connection with Hank — The Silent Watchman of Pueblo’s Heritage Museum. Where others sense only a shadow in the corner, Lexi feels a calm, steady presence — as though Hank is quietly walking beside her.

Is it protection? Recognition? Or simply one spirit finding a friend in the living? Whatever the reason, Hank seems to have claimed her… and she, him.
