Project Ten- Pueblo Pioneer Cemetary
May 31, 2026
The Pueblo Pioneer Cemetery (formerly Northside Cemetery) is the oldest formal burial ground in Pueblo, Colorado, dedicated in 1870. The cemetery holds the remains of Damon Runyon’s mother, Libbie, U.S. Senator George M. Chilcott, and Van Daniel Boone, (grandson of Daniel Boone).
During an investigation at the Pueblo Pioneer Cemetery, investigators recorded several unusual audio events. Among them was a sequence that some listeners believed resembled a familiar melody. The sounds were heard by multiple participants and captured on a digital recorder. Despite review, investigators have been unable to identify a definitive source. The recording is presented here for visitors to evaluate themselves. Pay attention to the 1:03 mark.

During this conversation, one of my colleagues asked if anyone present had a horse? The response sounded like "speak up".
Right after the "speak up" conversation, we picked up another phrase. I think Jen heard it the best. It sounds like, "how may I help you?"

We got several distinctive differences in responses that seemed to include other languages. Not surprsing considering workers flocked to the city when Colorado Fuel and Iron was created in 1880. Workers in the steel mills and mines spoke 42 different languages.
This response came after Jen asked about telling their stories, and if there was anything they would want the public to know. At a first pass, it may seem Slavic or Russian?
