One Year In the Shadows

One year ago, In the Shadows Paranormal officially stepped out of the shadows.

I had no idea where it would lead.

Over the past twelve months, we've investigated historic hotels, museums, a prison, private homes, cemeteries and places I never imagined we'd be invited to explore. We've met remarkable people, heard extraordinary stories, captured a few things we still can't explain — and learned an enormous amount along the way.

Somewhere in there, we also started a podcast, created events, traveled around Colorado, made new friends and found ourselves researching the history of a horse-drawn hearse built in Austria more than a century ago.

Because apparently that's what we do now.

But the best part of this first year hasn't been any single investigation, EVP, photograph or unexplained moment. It's been the people who have come along for the ride.

To everyone who attended an event, watched or shared a video, listened to the podcast, followed our investigations, offered information, opened a door for us, encouraged us, laughed with us, asked questions, or simply stuck around to see what we'd get ourselves into next — thank you.

You've watched In the Shadows grow up in real time. You've also watched us make mistakes, change direction, chase unexpected stories and occasionally tumble headfirst down some spectacular research rabbit holes.

And that's exactly how I hope it stays.

We aren't interested in proving that everything is paranormal. We're interested in asking questions, preserving stories, exploring history and being willing to say, “We don't know.”

A year ago, I thought I knew what In the Shadows Paranormal was going to become.

I was wrong.

And I couldn't be happier about that.
